Taster Walk for prospective members

Taster Walk for Prospective New Members-Sun 27th Sept 2015

The walking year for Dingle Hillwalking Club begins again in Oct. We will shortly compile a schedule of walks for the coming year combining a mix of difficult, moderate and easy walks. Our walks are scheduled for alternate Sunday, mostly in the Chorca Dhuibhne area.  During the year we will also make a few trips to Killarney to explore the McGillycuddy Reeks and we also plan to visit locations outside the county and possibly beyond. Garvey’s Supervalu in Dingle is the assembly point for the walks which are usually held on Sunday starting at 10.00am

A membership fee is payable to cover registration and insurance with Mountaineering Ireland.  Anyone interested in joining the club can obtain an application form and walk schedule from any of the club officers (see below) and can also be viewed or downloaded from the club’s website. .

This is an opportunity for anyone who is interested in exploring the outdoors or to view the sea and mountain landscape in remote locations on a regular basis with like minded people. As a hillwalking club our walks are normally on the hills over rough terrain requiring a reasonable level of fitness and appropriate footwear and clothing.

Persons who are interested in joining the club but are unsure of their ability to participate may wish to talk to us about the club’s activities. Prospective members will also have an opportunity to take part in three of our walks before they make a decision to join the club.

. The proposed route is 2½ hour walk in Loch an Dúin, which located on the northern side of the peninsula near Cloghane. The meeting point is Garvey’s Supervalue at 10am or the Kilmore Cross at 10.30am .Participants will get an opportunity to interact with club members on this walk. While waterproof clothing may be required (subject to weather conditions) hill walking boots are not essential on this particular route.
