Fothair na Manach (Greenfields) – Difficult – 4 hrs – Height gain 800m – 9 kms

Fothar na Manach or Greenfields, as it is also known as, is a magical, but difficult, walk starting from Ballinahow. It  starts at 50m with a gradual ascent along the Dingle Way (Military Road) for the first hour or so to 450m before dropping down a steep incline (good head for heights required) to the remains of an old monastic settlement at sea level and steep climb back up. Easy option is to continue from 450m to the Ogham stone (650m) at the saddle/Col below Más an Tiompán (763m) & return by the same route. Main walk will be 4 hours. Easier option 3 hours.
